VAROUFAKIS BLUES


Well I woke up this morning and I wish I'd stayed in bed
There was an awful smell of burning coming from the garden shed
Imagine how my poor heart sank, I went to take a look
There was the European Central Bank and the usual band of crooks
They had entire countries in there, hangin up on hooks
Doing economic vivisection and – cooking the books

I said, If you're going to stay here boys you'd better pay some rent
They said, Oh no we're taking over, and I guess that's what they meant
'Cos they moved into the garden and they occupied the flat
Emptied out the kitchen cupboards and they privatised the cat
'N' when they'd taken everything they said Hey, do you wanna make a deeeeeeal?

They try to tell me it's just one of those bad patches
I've seen it all before, you can say that I've had practice
